In the animated movie, the Crocodile is a somewhat goofy reptile who swallowed Hook's hand and a ticking clock. "But I'm a white dude writing this part and I wanted to hand it over to Alyssa, and let her invest the character with all the things that were important to her in terms of representing a culture." The animated Crocodile was a lot more cutesy "We wrote a version of Tiger Lily that I felt was not only integral to the story but was sort of a corrective to the original animated version, which is of course incredibly problematic," Lowery says. The actress pulled from her own Cree heritage to help ensure authenticity in everything from costumes to language. Instead, Lowery gave the reins to Native consultants and Alyssa Wapanatâhk, who plays warrior princess Tiger Lily. Peter's mischievous cohorts in Neverland are no longer just Lost Boys, but rather, Lost Kids. The enormous half-gallon capacity makes the Outsize a lot bulkier than other cordless vacuums, so it's noticeably heavy when cleaning moldings and stairs. The most useful for pet hair is the mini motorized tool, which is great for pet hair on stairs and upholstery, but you also get a combination tool, a crevice tool, and a stubborn dirt tool with plenty of storage on the charging dock and the vacuum itself. The attachments are fantastic too, especially if you have pets. The enormous half-gallon dust bin holds plenty of dirt and keeps you from going to the trash too often. Mounted on the hard floor head, it's more than just a gimmick, revealing all the dust and dirt the eye can't see. The most notable feature is - unbelievably - a laser. Even better, there’s an LCD screen at the rear that gives you the current battery life in minutes and even shows you handy how-to videos to keep the vacuum running its best. Loaded with all of Dyson's most exciting technology, the newly revamped detangling brush bar means that hair doesn't get tangled, and sensors that automatically adjust the suction power to each floor type. With 220 AW, this cordless vacuum packs all the power of a plug-in model. Nothing comes close to the Dyson Outsize +. It's the best vacuum for pet hair you can buy. What if you used the maximum possible damage the attack could do? In that case avoiding a kobold with a knife is still pretty easy (1d6(max 6)+2 or something, DC8) but a giant would be tough if not impossible (3d12+5, max 41, doesn’t work) and a more reasonable mid/high level enemy (2d8+4, dc 20) would be tough but not impossible. Using a static reduction already takes the damage roll out of the equation, so that doesn’t work either. I was thinking having the player roll against a contested check earlier, but that could be really inconsistent. The DC needs to scale with level or damage somehow, and the ability needs to be limited to within reason (no rolling with a giant smacking you with a giant sized great axe unless you’re super high leveled). Instead I would bind it to a Weapon attack only (no magic melee) because non weapon melee attacks likely don’t carry the necessary force (for instance a chill touch cantrip). Because it’s about dodging and using the force of the blow instead of using armor, the magic damage loophole could be removed. If the check works, the damage is reduced by their DEX and they get to move 5’ without an opportunity attack.īecause it requires a check to pass ( and as long as the DC is reasonably hard as level increases) there is risk of failure that warrants the ability being better than HAM. What if you made it work with a reduction based on DEX modifier. You could further complicate it by saying that on a crit roll by the defending player, they can move 10 ft or not land prone, but I think that’s too much. If the attacker wins, you are unable to find an opening to move.” Standing from this roll costs only 5’ of movement. If you win, you roll 5’ away from the attacker in a direction of your choice, landing prone. Make an acrobatics check contested by the attackers acrobatics/athletics check. “when you are hit by a melee weapon attack by a target you can see, you may use your reaction to attempt to roll clear of your enemy’s reach. Reducing to 5’ is common to other abilities.Īlso, this should require sight of the enemy to plan this maneuver. I would add a reduced cost to stand so that it doesn’t hinder them next turn. Realistically contested is the best way to handle it. This means they could roll a 4 and pass the check, only failing 20% of the time. A proficient player at level 4 taking this feat would likely have a +4 to decide and would have +2 from proficiency. It should likely be a contested check instead of a damage DC, or at least have a fixed number like 10 minimum to have some chance of failure. That check will also be super easy to make in most cases. I would change it to have the roll effect always carry the player in increments of 5’, because 5e uses 5’ increments for basically everything. “Rolling with it” away from an attacker with multiattack and remaining movement could really hurt, as they could walk up and hit you again with advantage. All monsters, all the time!īeing prone in 5e could be a problem. Combat areas for every conceivable encounter. Collection of Podcasts, Vidcasts, and other D&D Multimedia for your consumption. Make sure you deselect 'Copy Tracks to Destination' - we're only interested in the database information and not the files themselves. When the dialogue box pops up, give your collection a name, choose a folder to save it to and select NML as the format. Right-click on Track Collection and select Export The Collection. It's worth bearing in mind that even if you export the whole collection as a single file, Rekord Buddy will still read the playlists within it, so you don't have to sync the whole library every time - it's possible to sync individual playlists. To export your collection's database file in Traktor, open it and browse to Track Collection or any playlist you want to export. Close the window and select File, Export Playlists Information and choose a location for your database file. Selecting 'No' would mean that Rekordbox doesn't export markers that adjust the tempo and selecting 'All beats' would mean that every marker is exported, resulting in a much bigger database file. This option makes sure that only changes in the tempo of a track are exported. Click on the Bridge tab and under Export BeatGrid Information select BPM Change Points. Open the software and select File and Preferences. Syncing libraries with Rekord Buddy Part 1īefore you open Rekord Buddy the first thing you need to do is export the collection database file from both Rekordbox and Traktor. However, it's likely you'll only need to do this once, and commit to one software following the initial sync. The process is slightly convoluted in that there's no direct communication between the software. You've got to re-import that XML file back into Rekordbox before any changes will appear. However, pressing the sync button doesn't overwrite anything just yet, the changes are saved to the XML file we talked about earlier. Then, if you're happy to sync them, pressing the Sync Track or Sync All buttons will combine the data, meaning those cue points and the beatgrid are now accessible in Rekordbox. The software works in a pretty by importing both Traktor and Rekordbox collection files - NML and XML files respectively - compares the differences and, if you wish, syncs the information between the two file formats.įor example, if you've imported a file into Traktor, added some cue points and a custom beatgrid then imported that same file into Rekordbox, Rekord Buddy would flag up that the metadata stored in the file doesn't match, and would highlight them in red. Rekord Buddy is a clever third-party OS X application designed to sync Traktor and Rekordbox libraries. Let's take a look at how Rekord Buddy works… Unfortunately, there is no Windows alternative so for the moment, it's not possible to automatically import playlists from Rekordbox to Traktor using a Windows computer. We're going to come back to it a lot throughout this tutorial. The solution comes in a Mac-based app called Rekord Buddy. Traktor does not allow direct dragging from Rekordbox's browser and although it's possible to export playlists from Rekordbox as XML files, Traktor doesn't support that format. Unfortunately, moving tracks from Rekordbox to Traktor isn't as simple. As a result, the bpm may change by a few decimal points. Rekordbox will accept tracks dragged directly from Traktor's browser and while metadata like custom comments, mix name and even bpm will remain intact, Rekordbox will still analyse the files as it uses its own waveform view algorithm. You can either export your Traktor playlist by right-clicking and selecting Export - making sure you select the format as M3U - and then importing it into Rekordbox, or you can create a playlist of the same name in Rekordbox, select all the included tracks in Traktor and drag them across to Rekordbox. There are two options when moving playlists from Traktor to Rekordbox. So what's the solution for DJs looking to migrate from one software to the other? And how can you minimise the impact on your music collection? Let's take a look at the options… Playlists Similarly, DJs who never used a laptop in the booth are slowly becoming enticed by the new performance options available to them as they add quantised loops, multiple cue points, adjust their grids and create complex playlists using Rekordbox, and are considering the move to Native Instrument's flagship software.īut there's one glaring issue: Rekordbox and Traktor use two different analysis formats so there's currently no way to natively import your Traktor collection with your custom grids, cue points and tempos intact, and vice versa for Rekordbox users tempted by Traktor's traits. |
